Oh my god.


This movie completely blew me away. Like incredibly so. I didn't have very high expectations at all, but... WOW. I couldn't stop smiling the entire movie. It was just so good. It had it's cheesy moments, but that's because it was exactly like the cartoon.


Oh, and Matthew Fox? I think I love you. I know I give you a lot of shit on LOST, but.. I'm completely in love with you now. Lik Whoa.



(Oh, and the credits are in TECHNICOLOR. Which made this film like a billion times more awesome.)

GO Speedracer, GO speedracer, GO speedracer GOOoOOoOoOO!!!

I haven't seen it yet, but I got a shitkick out of that cartoon as a kid, so I have a feeling I'm gonna like it.


IRONMAN, however, was hella dumb. It was boring and typical, and not in that "omg but it's COOL because it's SO DUMB" kind of way. It was just boring in the "alright let's cook up a little crap around the typical storyline we use for everything" kind of way. But it was pretty, I'll give it that. And I saw it in German... so at least the dialog was interesting in that sense.

Really truly? It just looked lame on the trailers. I wasn't going to go see it, cause I didn't want lameness to ruin a favorite childhood show...

I'm still not sure if I want to see this or not. I never watched the cartoon as a kid, so I have no idea what the plot is like. And from the first 7 minutes I saw that's up online, it looks like someone threw a pallet of paint into a washing machine and set it to high...

Speed Racer was the first anime ever in America (and still the only GOOD one, IMO). The plot's fairly simple: there's a kid named Speed Racer who races cars that his dad builds. His older brother Rex was like the champion racer until he was killed, so now Speed grew up and so on.

The movie actually spells out all the details pretty well for people who didn't watch the cartoon.

It's really really cool, even if it's like one giant technicolor acid trip. But amazing.
